You love the look and feel of your hair after a blowout, but how do you maintain it? There are a few things you can do to extend the life of your blowout and keep it looking fabulous:
Start with healthy hair. Healthy hair--particularly the ends--can withstand the rigours of a blowout. Keep your hair its best with regular visits to the salon to stop split ends. Split ends can move up the length of the hair if they are left unattended, so regular trims are important. You can also keep the ends healthy with regular deep conditioning treatments. A Shower Cap can intensify the effects of a hair masque or hot oil treatment. The TIARA is great for this--just turn it inside out to use with your conditioner and machine wash it when you are done.
Keep your hands off your hair! Your hands can transfer dirt and oil to your hair so try not to touch your lovely locks too much post-blow-dry.
Beware the friction in your pillowcase. Cotton pillowcases can catch hair and give you a nasty cause of bedhead. To prevent messy morning hair, you may want to invest in a silk pillowcase. The natural fibres contain amino acids that are kind to our hair and skin. Silk also wicks moisture and is hypoallergenic. The downside is the cost. The best silk pillowcases are a specific type--mulberry silk with a charmeuse weave and they can be pricey. (Read more on the benefits and details about silk pillowcases here.) If a silk pillowcase is not in your budget, try satin which, like silk, pulls less on your hair. You can also wrap your hair up in a silk scarf to protect it.
Don’t overdo it with product. It’s tempting to reach for the dry shampoo the morning after your blowout, but try not to rely on it too much. Dry shampoo can dull hair and leave residue that weighs it down. Website PRÊTE recommends that you use a spritz of hairspray at the roots to boost volume. Simply flip your hair over and use short bursts of hairspray at the roots, then flip it back and work the product in with your fingertips. If you find yourself in need of dry shampoo a couple of days after your blowout, use it sparingly and work it in well with your fingertips.
Shower right! You can shower and still preserve your blow-dry. A well-designed shower cap is the key. TIARA Shower Cap® is made to fit hair of all lengths and textures. With its wide forehead band and terrycloth lining, it will protect your hair without leaving red marks on your forehead.
A great blowout should last you at least a few days. With these tips, you can be sure it will not only last, but look fabulous!
